Britney May Have Postpartum Depression

Postpartum depression alone can leave a new mom feeling helpless and out of control. But when you're already a mess, already abusing drugs and alcohol (for years) and then you have children...well, you get Britney.

TMZ reports it's sources say that her doctors at Promises think the "underlying reason for her troubles may be post-partum depression(PPD)." Sources have reportedly told TMZ that the doctors "two operating theories -- either she suffers from post-partum depression or bipolar disorder. The doctors strongly believe her troubles may be PPD."

They further report: As for substance abuse, as one source says, "No doubt about it - she likes to drink." But doctors believe the drinking is a way Spears has coped with a bigger problem. Everything could be complicated by "an intense feeling on her part that she has lost control of her life." TMZ's sources are also saying that BritBrit is reading Brooke Shields's personal book on postpartum depression "Down Came the Rain"...
