Sandi Thom Pimping for Vivienne Westwood

NYC's Tartan Week is fast approaching (April'07) and Scottish singer Sandi Thom has been approached to model and sing at Vivienne Westwood's forthcoming catwalk show - Dressed To Kilt.

Westwood is definitely one of the funkier designers out there and is known for her love of tartan in her fashion designs. She approached Thom (big song: I wish I was a Punk Rocker) and Thom is pumped:

"I'm wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress in tartan and playing a tartan guitar...I'm really scared at the fact that I'm going to be surrounded by a load of skinny six foot models when I'm five foot two. But it's going to be great to be back in New York - I love it there...It feels good to be representing my country in the official Scottish dress too."

Tina Turner: Just Say No...To "Heavy Backsides"

Hmmmm, how very interesting that foxy (and solid) Tina Turner answered some fashion related questions by chiming in on the "skinny model debate" like this:

Your thoughts on the exhibition?

...The show this evening was...it's always just inspired me to really want to make sure that I stay in shape and that I look good. It's that kind of a motivation for me when I watch his shows. It really is.

...Well yes I think it is possible....but also I know, I've seen a few of the ones now where girls with heavy rumps are walkin' the rampway.

The heavy what?

The heavy backsides. And that doesn't look so good. So I think it's difficult to really get the right size to please everybody.

GREAT WORK Tina...Way to join the Ban Big Girls Brigade. Uncool x infinity.
