Oh boy. Eighty-one year old Jerry Lewis' latest role is as a drunken-bat-crazy-bigot raising $63 million for Muscular Dystrophy.

During his annual Labor Day weekend telethon, Lewis started messing with a cameraman and pretendingly introduced a make-believe family member of the guy as "the illiterate fag" then remembered he was "live" and tried to move forward.

Will Lewis go to rehab a'la' Isaiah Washington ? Will Lewis unite with GLADD to do a series of public service announcements denouncing gay slurs? Will people insist he be fired? Wait, fired from raising bazillions of dollars for a good cause?

What he said was obnoxious and offensive but nada is going to happen to him. Ya heard.

“It didn’t help me on the set that I was a black man who wasn’t a mush-mouth Negro walking around with his head in his hands all the time. I didn’t speak like I’d just left the plantation and that can be a problem for people sometimes. I had a person in human resources tell me after this thing played out that ’some people’ were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I’m a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn’t go around saying ‘Yessah, massa sir’ and ‘No sir, massa’ to everyone? Still trying to save his reputation after saying racist things about "Grey's Anatomy" castmate T.R. Knight, Isaiah Washinton is reportedly set to do public service announcement for GLAAD (the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).

Washington had yelled, “I’m not your little f-ggot like T.R. Knight!” to co-star Patrick Dempsey during an on-set fight and later denied issuing the slur in the Golden Globes press room, "No, I did not call T.R. a f-ggot. Never happened, never happened."

How much of an idiot do you have to be to use the same slur you got slammed for using when trying to claim you didn't use it? Oh, and don't even get me started on entering rehab for it. Grrrrr, he irritates me deeply.

Regarding the GLAAD PSAs, Washington's rep, Howard Bragman, said, "We're gonna have — I want to say at least two versions of it at this point."..."We may broaden our message a little."

Let's hope he has turned the hate corner onto tolerance lane! Ehgads, was that too cheesy?
