"Grindhouse" Hollywood Premier Brings Out the Layy-dayyys

After directing his "Grindhouse" actresses in sadistic scenes of death and dismemberment, Quentin Tarantino was repaid in full at the film's premiere — with a cake presented by femme fatales Rose McGowan, Rosario Dawson and Marley Shelton for his 44th birthday.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, the sexy sirens led a bawdy chorus of "Happy Birthday to You" as Tarantino welcomed a bear hug from Grindhouse co-director Robert Rodriguez.

But the celebration was not without mishap. Just before the star arrivals, a water main break flooded the red carpet, causing the stars to run under cover in hopes of salvaging their ultra expensive gowns.

Opening April 6, "Grindhouse" is actually a double bill of Rodriguez's sicko zombie flick, "Planet Terror", and Tarantino's road rage revenge tale, "Death Proof." -- Sure to be a cult hit. You know it.

Grinding Halt "Grindhouse?"

The 3-hour+ double-feature of "Grindhouse" couldn't be helped this weekend despite the publicity push. What do you mean people don't want to see a girl with a machine gun leg killing people?

Harvey Weinstein is, according to Page Six, so disappointed in the $11.6 million opening weekend gross for "Grindhouse" - he's considering re-releasing each film separately and in longer versions.

"Death Proof" (road rage revenge) was directed by Quentin Tarantino and "Planet Terror" (zombie flick) was directed by Robert Rodriguez but their crafty ways didn't translate into box office gold - at least not yet. Nor did the bevy of pretty girls in tight clothing!

"I don't think people understood what we were doing," Weinstein told Page Six. "The audience didn't get the idea that it is two movies for the price of one. I don't understand the math, but I want to accommodate the audience." He said the main deterrent to ticket buyers is the length, which "becomes a time commitment."

-- Everyone knows (or maybe just me and the rest of the Hollywood outsiders) the money will be made in DVD sales/rentals as it becomes a cult classic...AND it will surely have its midnight horror flick spot in smaller theaters for crazy teens and scary elders. ;)

Writer/Director Robert Rodriguez directed Rose McGowan in the "Planet Terror" segment of "Grindhouse." They deny hooking up on set but it's interesting that Robert announced in April of 2006 that he and his wife of 16 years and mother of his 5 children, Elizabeth Avellán, were divorcing...then "goes public" with sweety hooch McGowan right after filming wraps. Hmmmmmmm.

Frozen Face Engaged?

Is Rose McGowan (aka Frozen Face) engaged to director Robert Rodriguez?

Page Six reports McGowan is walking around L.A. "showing off" a new blood diamond diamond engagement ring - given to her by Rodriguez.

We don't see them often but they were photographed together earlier this year during the publicity tour for Grindhouse. Not long after filming, Rodriguez announced he was divorcing his wife of 16 years and the mother of his five children. Dirty bag.

Fashion designer Donatella Versace and her ex-husband Paul Beck say they're going to sue several newspapers over their reporting of their daughter's battle with anorexia. Tuesday night, several news organizations suggested 20-year-old Allegra Versace Beck had been hospitalized after years of battling the eating disorder. Wednesday's editions of London's Evening Standard and Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper, quoted Donatella as saying, "Anorexia is consuming her... The doctors are doing all they can to snatch her away from this cruel disease." -- Today's statement from Versace and Beck indicataes, "Allegra is not at present staying in any hospital, she is living in her private residence and her condition does not cause particular concerns."

Nice, they're daughter is needle thin - clearly very ill - and her condition "does not cause particular concerns." Brilliant. It's a wonder she has lived this long.



The British woman who claims she is the biological mother to Michael Jackson's three kids and should have a say in the Jackson vs. Deborah Rowe custody settlement - filed a motion in L.A. Superior Court Tuesday (March 27) requesting shared custody of the children and requesting Jackson hand over his Neverland Ranch and another Encino, California home to her. BAHHHHH! The woman, Nona Paris Lola Jackson, is one crazy lady. Nona writes in court documents, "Debbie's hospital records will prove that my kids are not hers because of DNA...."I gave birth through the means of water birth because I am technically a (sic) herbalist."



Scrapper Foxy Brown (aka Inga Marchand) showed up in a Florida court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to attacking a beauty store employee in a Florida. Brown's appearance in court comes a week after a Broward County judge issued a warrant for her arrest after she failed to attend her scheduled March 22 hearing. [Starpulse]



Britney Spears picked-up her kids from KFed-Ex then proceeded to dump them with the nanny so she could drug seek get her painful molar tended to - or have her teeth whitened. Whatever, we're talking teeth people. It's annoying just typing this tooth crap. [tmz]

OK, so maybe she didn't break-up "Grindhouse" director Robert Rodriguez's 15-16yr marriage - or maybe she did! Whatever. Did you see Rose on "The View" this week? Her face barely moved and she talked funny because her lips are all plumped up. It was really quite creepy if you ask me. Beautiful porcelain skin though.
